Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from Cover Lab.myshopify.com (the “Site”). 

Personal information we collect 
When you visit the Site, www.thecoverlab.com we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information”. Device Information and any other information from which you can be identified will be considered your “Personal Data”. It will include information you provide through your use of the Site and/or directly to us. There are no other sources of Personal Data that we process about you.

Where required under applicable data protection or electronic communications laws, we require express consent to place cookies that collect this information from your use of the Site. Where consent is not provided, your use of the Site will be restricted.

We collect Device Information using the following technologies: 
- “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. - “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps. 
- “Web beacons”, “tags”, and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site. 

Additionally when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers)email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information”. 


When we talk about “Personal Data” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information. 

How do we use your personal information? 
We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to: 
- Communicate with you; 
- Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud;
- When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services; and

- send you marketing information or news update information.
We rely on contractual or legitimate interest grounds to process your Personal Data in relation to your use of the Site and Order Information. We may also rely on consent where required and notified to you and any such consent can be withdrawn freely by you.


We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns). 



Sharing your Personal Data  
We share your Personal Data with third parties for the purposes Personal Data as described above. As described above, provided you have consented to the relevant cookies (where required under applicable data privacy or electronic communications laws), we use your Personal Data to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. Do not track 
Please note that we do not alter our Site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser. 

Your rights 
If you are resident in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom (Europe), you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. Under certain circumstances, you also have the right to object to the processing of your Personal Data, limit the processing of your personal data, transfer your data and withdraw consent to the processing of your Personal Data. We will aim to respond to your request within one calendar month of receipt of the request. Where we are unable to do so within the calendar month, we will notify you of our need to extend this timeline. There are certain exemptions and restrictions applicable to the exercise of these rights under the European data privacy laws that enable personal information to be retained, processed or withheld from access and we will inform you of these, if applicable. If you are a resident in Europe r we note that we are processing your PersonalData in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above.

If you are based outside the United States, please note that the Personal Data that you provide through the Site is transferred to the United States (where privacy laws may not be as adequate as in your jurisdiction) to Cover Labs, LLC and third parties engaged by us to assist in operation of the Site or provide theservices to you.  We will take appropriate contractual steps to require that the commercial organization with whom we share your Personal Data are obliged to comply with European data privacy laws as applicable. By using the Site, you expressly agree to the transfer of the Personal Data to the United States.

Data retention 
We will only retain your Personal Data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting requirements.

Data security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your Personal Data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your Personal Data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your Personal Data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

 

Changes 
We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. 


Minors  The Site is not aimed at children and we do not permit anyone under the age of 16 years to use the Site or provide their Personal Data to us. If you are aware of a child providing his or her Personal Data to us, please let us know immediately.
